Rockville, Md. (August 16, 2005) Press Release —
Visual Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: VNWK), a leading provider of network and application performance management solutions, today announced that longtime
customer Tyco Healthcare has licensed Visual Networks’ application performance
management software modules and new
Visual Select Ethernet appliances for use in its
Mallinckrodt business unit. Tyco Healthcare manufactures, distributes and
services an extensive product line including disposable medical supplies,
monitoring equipment, innovative wound closure products, advanced surgical
devices, medical instruments and bulk analgesic pharmaceuticals.
Tyco Healthcare licensed Select AppFlows™ and Select AppSummary™, Visual
Networks’ application performance management software modules, which are
components of the company’s flagship Visual UpTime® Select™
offering. Select AppFlows and Select AppSummary identify applications that are
being used across the network and obtain end-to-end performance data for these
applications. Visual UpTime Select provides in-depth, real-time and historical
information that enables enterprises to intelligently manage application and
network performance and availability across the entire enterprise. The
Mallinckrodt business unit will also be utilizing the Visual Networks Ethernet
appliances for insight into application performance at its remote offices, which
rely on Business DSL for connectivity.
“Tyco Healthcare relies extensively on Visual UpTime Select for
real-time insight into our WAN,” said John Lamoureux, director of global network
operations at Tyco Healthcare. “Increasingly, we are depending on our global
infrastructure to provide stable, reliable customer service. Visual UpTime
Select allows us to proactively manage our network and gives us the
technology we need to troubleshoot any operational issues. Meeting our service
level agreements would be difficult without being able to count on Visual UpTime
Select to monitor and troubleshoot network and application performance
across our enterprise.”
“We remain very enthusiastic about the market potential for our new Ethernet
appliances and our application performance management products,” said Larry
Barker, President and CEO of Visual Networks. “Organizations across a variety of
industries — from retail to manufacturing to government to healthcare — look to
Visual UpTime Select as the all-in-one solution for providing real-time
and historical enterprise-wide intelligence about network and application
performance.”
