Rule-based LX
Console Server software features enable quick problem detection and recovery
in Server Networks
CHATSWORTH, CA – November 15, 2005 –
MRV COMMUNICATIONS, INC. (Nasdaq: MRVC), a
leader in Out-of-Band Management, WDM and Optical Transport, Metro Ethernet,
Optical Components, 10GE, and Service Aware Solutions announced that
MRV has added a set of rich features that add a level of Service Awareness
to its LX Console Servers. The features are enabled through a rule-based
function, which gives the network administrator the tools to specify
corrective or notification actions when a network event (i.e. Trigger)
occurs. For example, a rule can be written to associate an event such as
the room temperature going past 70 degrees with an action that causes the
MRV LX to power on the air-conditioning through its attached securely managed
power unit. Another example would cause an alarm to be generated on an
unauthorized entry into the server room. The rules and their status can be
specified and viewed in the LX’s easy-to-use GUI.
“With the ability to provide this level of fault detection, notification
and recovery, a network administrator gains important cost and time saving
tools for managing the critical resources in his network. These service
aware features ensure the ability to provide reliable network service to
the network users” said Mary Jane Gruninger, general manager of the
MRV
Out-of-Band management division. “The addition of these features to our
product line shows MRV’s commitment to maintaining the LX Series’
reputation as one of the most flexible, feature-rich and secure console
servers on the market.”
