Compact, Scaleable Wave Division Multiplexing Systems Certified for US
Telecom Industry Central Office Environments
CHATSWORTH, Calif., Sept 20,
2006 -- MRV COMMUNICATIONS, INC. (Nasdaq: MRVC), a leading provider of
products and services for WDM and optical transport, metro Ethernet, fiber optic
components, 10GE, out-of-band networking and other service aware networking
products, today announced that its
LambdaDriver LD 1600 and
LambdaDriver LD 800 wave division
multiplexers (“WDM”) have achieved compliance with Network Equipment Building
Systems (“NEBS”) Level 3, the leading product safety and reliability standard
for telecommunications equipment.
"Our carrier customers demand that the WDM systems they install be held to the
highest standards of safety and reliability," said Noam Lotan, MRV President and
CEO. "We designed the
LambdaDriver® coarse WDM ("CWDM") and dense WDM ("DWDM")
system from the ground up to comply with NEBS Level 3 robust standards and this
certification assures them that the
LambdaDriver WDM meets those criteria.”
The certification means that MRV’s WDM systems meet all safety standards
required for use in U.S. tier one central office applications. To become
certified at NEBS Level 3, the LambdaDriver WDM system passed strict physical,
electrical and environmental tests and demonstrated that MRV’s CWDM and DWDM
solutions will operate safely and reliably in a central office environment.
The LambdaDriver systems join MRV’s other NEBS-compliant product lines including
its LX out-of-band management solutions, and its Fiber Driver optical transport WDM systems for central office fiber optimization applications.
The LambdaDriver WDM and optical transport solutions are scalable CWDM and DWDM
systems specifically designed for businesses and service providers that require
flexible, compact and cost-effective fiber optimization systems for high-speed
data, storage, voice, and video networks. The LambdaDriver WDM series includes
the LD 400,
LD 800 and
LD 1600 mountable WDM chassis with modular architecture
and hot-swappable modules. Each product will support transmission of up to 800
Gbps over a single fiber pair using advanced WDM technology including
high-performance SONET/SDH, 10 Gigabit Ethernet, High Definition video, voice
and storage applications.
