March 2, 2006 – LuminentOIC, a leading
supplier of metro & access transceivers and Fiber-to-the-Premise solutions,
today announced the availability of the industry’s first ITU-T G.984 G-PON
compliant end-to- end transceiver solution.
LuminentOIC’s G-PON OLT transceiver is the industry’s first and only module that
is fully compliant to the ITU-T G.984 G-PON timing parameters requiring only 6
bytes of preamble between bursts of data. Unlike GE-PON systems that have a
relaxed requirement of 128 bytes of preamble between bursts of data, LuminentOIC
developed in-house technology to meet the stringent timing requirements of G-PON
systems. The tighter timing requirement of G-PON systems versus GE-PON systems
enables higher throughput efficiency. LuminentOIC’s OLT transceiver is available
in both a pigtailed SFF and receptacle pluggable SFP form factor. The first
product release is for 2.5 Gb/s downstream, 1.25Gb/s upstream data transmission.
LuminentOIC also announced the immediate availability of G-PON ONT triplexer
transceiver, offering voice, video, and data. The triplexer transceiver operates
at 1.25Gb/s upstream, 2.5 Gb/s downstream, and employs a temperature hardened
DFB transmitter, an APD receiver and a CATV video receiver. A digital-only
version is also available in the both same form factor or in a pigtailed SFF.

LuminentOIC’s G-PON product family has been sampling since Q3 2005 and is
currently in pilot line production.
