Visual Select Ethernet Devices Deployed by Southeastern
Freight Lines
Ethernet ASEs offer Visual
Networks Customer end-to-end Application Visibility over the
Network
Rockville, Md. (July 13, 2005) – Visual Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: VNWK), a leading provider of
network and application performance management solutions, today
announced that longtime customer and transportation provider
Southeastern Freight Lines has deployed Visual Networks’ new
Select Ethernet probes. The devices are components of Visual UpTime
Select, a modular solution that provides in-depth,
real-time and historical information that enables enterprises to
intelligently manage network availability across the entire
enterprise. Headquartered in Lexington, South Carolina,
Southeastern Freight Lines is a leading less-than-truckload (LTL)
transportation company, serving more than 58,000 customers
across the Southeast and Southwest.
“Visual Networks’ Ethernet
probes provide granular,
site-to-site performance information for all the applications
traversing our network,” said L. Wyman Cook, manager of
technical services at Southeastern Freight Lines. “For five
years, we have used Visual UpTime Select at all of our
service centers and have been very satisfied with its
reliability and the detailed information it provides. Thanks to Visual UpTime Select, we have an in-depth understanding
of what is occurring across our network and have the flexibility
to drill down and view performance information at each site by
application or server response time.”
The Visual Networks’ family of
Select Ethernet appliances provides
robust intelligence about the real-time and historical
performance of Local Area Network (LAN)-based and Wide Area
Network (WAN)-based applications and network conditions. The Visual UpTime Select Ethernet suite enables IT managers
to integrate the analysis of application and network performance
to achieve a holistic view of the entire network infrastructure.
“A number of longtime Visual Networks customers such as
Southeastern Freight Lines have been early adopters of our new Ethernet appliances,” said Larry Barker, President and CEO of
Visual Networks. “As businesses both domestically and
internationally increasingly adopt Ethernet transport, the
market will look to Visual UpTime Select for granular,
site-to-site WAN and LAN visibility.”
