Wireless Access Solution Enables Wireless Connectivity for SMBs and
Enterprises
CENTENNIAL, CO — DECEMBER 19, 2005 —
Verilink®
Corporation (Nasdaq: VRLK), a
leading provider of high-speed access solutions,
today announced the certification of the
NetPathTM 2000 by Cingular
Wireless for compatibility and interoperability with its wireless data networks.
As a component of Cingular’s Wireless WAN Connectivity Service, the
NetPath 2000
is a wireless access device that offers a robust feature set and capability for
high-speed wireless connectivity. The Cingular service connects customers via
the NetPath 2000 to deliver primary connectivity where traditional wireline
services are not available or practical, and provide a back-up solution for
wireline service to support mission-critical applications should line failures
occur.
Verilink
has optimized the NetPath 2000 to operate on Cingular’s wireless data networks,
supporting multiple network and customer configurations. Cingular Wireless
operates the largest high-speed national wireless data network in the United
States, with availability in 13,000 cities and towns. It also now provides
wireless broadband UMTS/HSDPA services in 16 markets, and expects to offer the
service in most major markets by the end of 2006. Cingular’s certification
process included a series of live customer trials and evaluations that allowed
Verilink to develop the feature set to meet the needs of real customers, not
just lab requirements.
“We
are pleased to have our NetPath 2000 solution certified by Cingular as we
collaborate to enable business customers nationwide to realize the benefits of
high-speed wireless access over Cingular’s EDGE, and soon UMTS/HSDPA,
networks,” said Sab Gosal, Vice President of Marketing for Verilink. “This
certification marks an important milestone in our relationship with Cingular and
the validation of our NetPath 2000 access solution. The
Verilink NetPath device combined with Cingular’s wireless data service provides
businesses with an enterprise class solution for WAN backup, and remote or
temporary connectivity applications.”
“Verilink’s NetPath 2000 wireless access solution takes full advantage of
Cingular’s nationwide, high-speed EDGE network and soon UMTS/HSDPA service
to offer customers a reliable and cost-effective solution for a compelling
back-up solution to traditional Frame Relay, IP VPNs, and ISDNs” said Hamish
Caldwell, executive director, Cingular Wireless Business Markets Group.
“Certification
of NetPath 2000 gives Cingular customers the assurance that it has been
tested to meet customers’ expectations of compatibility and interoperability
with our network. The inclusion of NetPath 2000 in our Wireless WAN
Connectivity Service solution makes for a powerful and competitive offering
to the marketplace.”
