Session Abstract: The Impact of IMS on the Access Edge
Obstacles to successful implementations of IMS are numerous, but a key strategy
for carriers is to build a stable and flexible infrastructure that can support
the delivery of new revenue generating services, including triple-play voice,
video, and data. Mr. Gosal will discuss strategies that will allow service
providers to take full advantage of IMS and reap the benefits of increased
revenues and improved profitability. Mr. Gosal will also discuss the
introduction of IMS as a new access network technology, exploring the associated
challenges, opportunities, and the establishment of new battlegrounds between
wireless and wireline providers as the wireline operators seeks to reclaim users
lost to mobile substitution.
