Verizon Dominicana Selects Verilink's 8000 Series for Deployment of VoIP Services

Award-Winning 8000 Series Selected for New DSL-Based IP Centrex Services After Extensive Evaluation and Interoperabiltiy Testing

CENTENNIAL, CO — FEBRUARY 1, 2006 — (MARKET WIRE via COMTEX News Network) --Verilink® Corporation (Nasdaq: VRLK), a leading provider of broadband access solutions, today announced that Verizon Dominicana, the leading local, long-distance and wireless telephone service provider in the Dominican Republic, has selected Verilink's 8000 Series Integrated Access Device (IAD) for the deployment of its new managed IP Centrex Service.

"IP Centrex is a new DSL-based competitive VoIP service intended to provide our small business and enterprise customers with greater benefits than traditional Centrex services," said Odislene Adames, Data Product Engineering Manager at Verizon Dominicana. "Aside of being more cost-effective compared to traditional Centrex services, this IP-based offering is easier to manage and allows us to implement an expanded service feature set. We selected the 8000 Series for the deployment of this service following rigorous lab evaluations and network interoperability testing. The configuration flexibility provided by the 8000, along with its remote management capability, makes it ideal from an operational standpoint."

"The 8000 Series is the perfect service delivery platform for DSL-based IP services such as those being rolled out by Verizon Dominicana," said Sab Gosal, Vice President of Marketing at Verilink Corporation. "Providing up to 85% Operational cost savings, compared to delivering services on equivalent legacy networks, the Verilink 8000 Series is intended to help service providers gain further penetration of new competitive broadband services among small and medium-sized businesses."

The 8000 Series is a highly flexible platform based on a plug-and-play architecture, integrating directly into existing phones, PBX and Key systems, to deliver toll-quality voice services over IP networks. Operating as multi-protocol intelligent customer-located equipment, the 8000 Series supports Session Initiated Protocol (SIP) and Media Gateway Control Protocol (MGCP) gateway functionality, allowing carriers to migrate their existing services to IP without having to disrupt existing investments.
