Cellular platform supports GSM and CDMA requirements
ATLANTA (BUSINESS WIRE) –
Jan. 24, 2007 -Verso Technologies, Inc.
(Nasdaq: VRSO), a global provider of next generation network solutions, announced today
the introduction of a suite of cellular backhaul products which include the
NetPerformer® 9600 central site chassis and NetPerformer 9210 1U chassis.
Verso will launch their new GSM and CDMA offering at the
Satellite 2007
Conference (Booth 725) on February 19-22 at the Washington Convention Center,
Washington, D.C.
During the Satellite 2007 Conference, which focuses on the role satellite
technology plays in the development of integrated solutions for global
communications, Verso will unveil its NetPerformer bandwidth optimization
solution designed to lower the cost of running 2G, 2.5G and 3G voice and data
traffic over packet-based networks.
The NetPerformer 9600 central site chassis is a high-density unit ideal for
GSM and CDMA networks where optimization, reliability and redundancy are mission
critical. The solution offers advanced GSM and CDMA features, DCME compression,
support for voice and data networks including IP-based networks and can support
up to 80 E1 lines.
Verso will also launch its NetPerformer 9210 1U chassis, designed
specifically to meet the needs of the cellular market. It offers cellular
operators the ability to cut bandwidth needs by 50 percent or more. The dynamic,
feature-rich device interfaces with all backbone platforms including Ethernet,
E1/T1 and serial port. The 1U chassis offers a smaller footprint, hardware
redundancy and ranks among the few wireless optimization devices that provide
G.823 PDH compliant clocking and can scale down to a fractional E1.
"More efficient use of satellite bandwidth is a critical need within the
industry," said Yves Desmet, senior vice president, Worldwide Sales, Verso
Technologies. "Operators need to stay competitive, and they can do this by
lowering operating expenses through the latest in bandwidth optimization tools
and technologies. For this reason, our solution was recently selected and
deployed in France by a major European carrier. Verso is continually refining
its NetPerformer solutions portfolio to provide the most flexible and
feature-rich bandwidth optimization offering on the market today."
The outlook for GSM backhaul, particularly in EMEA and Asia-Pacific, is
impressive. GSM added 362 million subscriptions between January and June of
2006, with an average daily growth of 1.32 million, and by Q3 2006, two billion
of the world's 2.41 billion cellular subscribers used GSM, according to Informa
Telecoms & Media. This indicates strong global demand for backhaul solutions
to meet the specific needs of the various wireless providers currently seeking
backhaul solutions.
