Visual Networks' New Ethernet Appliances Deployed in Nationwide Law Firm

Ethernet Devices Provide Fish & Richardson P.C. Enterprise-Wide Application Visibility

Rockville, Md. (July 6, 2005)   — Visual Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: VNWK), a leading provider of network and application performance management solutions, today announced that law firm Fish & Richardson P.C. has deployed Visual Networks’ Visual UpTime® Select™ Ethernet appliances for a modular solution providing in-depth, real-time and historical information.  Visual UpTime Select Ethernet appliances enable enterprises to intelligently manage network availability across the entire enterprise. Fish & Richardson is a national law firm and is one of the largest firms practicing intellectual property, litigation, and corporate law.

With the Visual UpTime Select Ethernet suite, Enterprises can benefit from the same set of rich network and application performance management capabilities for Local Area Network (LAN)-based applications that the company has traditionally delivered for applications that traverse the Wide Area Network (WAN).

“We implemented Visual Networks’ Ethernet appliances to obtain granular, real-time and historical visibility into application performance at all of our offices,” said Chuck DeMille, manager of telecommunications and network security at Fish & Richardson. “The Visual Networks solution enables us to determine the root cause of network issues by providing both a detailed view of bandwidth utilization and application performance at all our sites.”

“We have been very pleased with the strong early market adoption of our new Ethernet appliances, which we introduced in late April,” said Larry Barker, President and CEO of Visual Networks. “Enterprises that want visibility into application performance on both the WAN and the LAN but do not want to deploy an array of technologies from multiple vendors can rely on Visual UpTime Select for their all-in-one application performance management needs.”
